About Me!

My photo
Central, FL, United States
I am a former teacher, aspiring artist, inveterate traveler This blog is about my Florida garden experience and its expression though poetry, philosophy, photography and art. It includes my other creative endeavors. Here can be found posts about travel to other gardens around the world. My garden is a half acre in zone 9a which includes a large water garden. I have mostly a shade garden because of the huge live oak. To keep things easy, I love to grow bromiliads, ferns, gingers and other tropicals. I need to have a low maintenance garden. In the summer we usually have plenty of rain and it transforms into a jungle. I have converted my swamp into the water garden where I grow irises, waterlilies, papyrus, radigan, spikebush and swamp lily. I also grow citrus (lemon, key lime, grapefruit, tangerines, pineapple, and loquats). Me?...Often the prickly thorn produces tender roses. (Ovid)

trippin' to the north for spring

I headed up to Virginia and Pennsylvania for spring but it was a bit early.I saw pink and white flowering trees and these wildflowers. The joy was seeing the wild daffodils and an artist friend  made an arrangement and we painted it!
at a rest area

I thought these mosses were amazing!

It's A Hard Road

I jumped on the train
I left this old town
I escaped the rain
I'm no longer down
The wheels start to turn
My worries are gone
I have lots to learn
About the trail that I'm on
As I look around
I see my new friend
I know I am bound
To travel till the end

I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best

The train it did slow
I'm in a new place
The moonlight does glow
On my tired face
It's time for me
To try and find a bed
It's time for me
To rest my weary head
Morning is here
There's sorting to do
I'll sound sincere
With my goodbye to you

I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best

  3. What a lovely poem, and is that a photo of your grand daughter? She's a sweetie pie lying there in the blue flowers, what joy is that?!? I'd like to join her.

Your painting is so sweet and how nice that you can capture one of the happiest blooms of spring, daffodils.

Love and hugs to you Sharon ~ FlowerLady
