About Me!

My photo
Central, FL, United States
I am a former teacher, aspiring artist, inveterate traveler This blog is about my Florida garden experience and its expression though poetry, philosophy, photography and art. It includes my other creative endeavors. Here can be found posts about travel to other gardens around the world. My garden is a half acre in zone 9a which includes a large water garden. I have mostly a shade garden because of the huge live oak. To keep things easy, I love to grow bromiliads, ferns, gingers and other tropicals. I need to have a low maintenance garden. In the summer we usually have plenty of rain and it transforms into a jungle. I have converted my swamp into the water garden where I grow irises, waterlilies, papyrus, radigan, spikebush and swamp lily. I also grow citrus (lemon, key lime, grapefruit, tangerines, pineapple, and loquats). Me?...Often the prickly thorn produces tender roses. (Ovid)

My Amaryllis bloomed I bought this bulb in Holland last year and now have painted it in oil.........

Amaryllis

Garden was so radiant
Radiance emanated from one
But for one it'd be all plants
Noticing the Amaryllis
With pink flowers
She glowed with attention fixed
Fixed so hard it hurt
Nothing was more beautiful.

  1. I am sorry to hear you lost your hard drive. I need to see about backing up my stuff to the external hardware.

Your blooms are gorgeous and your painting is lovely. I thought I was looking at the real blooms until I read you had painted it.

Have a nice day and a great week ~ FlowerLady

  2. Computer problems are the worst! I lost a hard drive a few years ago and with it, many many pictures. One of these days I'll get around to buying an external storage drive to back up my stuff...

Lots of color going on there. That first picture of the garden across the lawn looks so cool and welcoming. Nice!

  12. It's wonderful to see all your tropical (and regular) blooms. I hear you about the hard drive & loving your laptop. I am connected to mine too. I hope everything is resolved now and it's a long time before anything else goes awry.
The amaryllis painting is fantastic! I am a huge amaryllis collector so of course I love anything and everything about them. It looks like 'Dancing Queen??'
